Connecting St. Augustine With The World

St. Augustine Music News
When it comes to entertainment, you haven't truly enjoyed St. Augustine until you've sampled the local music scene. Nearly every pub and restaurant in the St. Augustine area from Vilano Beach down into Flagler County features a host of talented artists throughout the week. To help you find out where your favorite band or musician is performing, OldCity.com friend Lisa Mack puts together a schedule of live entertainment which is updated regularly.  Check back often for a new list so you won't miss your favorite artists in St. Augustine.

Greetings Music Lovers!

I hope everyone is enjoying a great week!  As always, there is much happening on the St. Augustine Music Scene, and even though "festival season" is officially over, there are still plenty of cool, music-related things to do on the weekends.  And, if you're a biker, this coming Saturday in St. Augustine offers a couple of very worthwhile opportunities to get out and ride for a good cause.

The St. Augustine Chapter of the Iron Order Motorcycle Club will hold a benefit ride for The Players Championship Boys & Girls Club on Saturday, June 15th.  The MC members love this ride because it directly benefits underserved children right here in St. Johns County. Funds raised by the event will help provide the opportunity for at-risk kids to attend Summer Camps and other enrichment activities at the Boys & Girls Club.  Registration begins at 10 a.m. at the Boys & Girls Club, located at 555 West King Street. The 100 mile ride will be escorted by police officers through St. Augustine and will include stops at the Cheyenne Saloon, 3 Bananas, White Eagle, and Finns and finishes at Mardi Gras on San Marco Avenue, where PRONOUNCED, an impressive Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute band, will perform beginning at 2 p.m. Food and refreshments will be provided along the route. Entry fee is $20 for an individual rider and $25 for a couple. Kick-stands are up at 12 Noon. For registration information visit the club's web site at http://ironordermc-hellsgate.com or contact Danny at 904-392-6405.

Also on Saturday the 15th, an all-vehicle Poker Run & Auction will be held to benefit local resident Anne Baas, who is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Without health insurance, Anne faces a situation where she cannot have the life-saving surgery until such time as she is able to raise $36,000 for the necessary anti-rejection drugs.  Several fundraising events have been held to help her reach this goal, and a GiveForward website has been set up for donations: http://www.giveforward.com/kidneytransplantdesperatelyneeded.  To date, around 25% of the needed funds have been gathered.  Registration for this ride will begin at 10 a.m. at Bar None Saloon, with kickstands up at 11 a.m.  The ride will stop at the Hi-Level and Cheyenne Saloon in Palatka, the Bimini Bar and Fraternal Order of Eagles in Bunnell, and conclude at Amvets Post 45.  Registration is $15 for riders and $5 for passengers, which includes your poker hand. For more info, or to make an auction or cash donation, please contact Colleen at cmk1122@comcast.net.

But wait, there's more!

In a recent Music News update, I told you about the Kickstarter Campaign for "The Oklawaha County Jamboree, A Gamble Rogers Tribute," a project undertaken by Lis and Lon Williamson and many of their friends to " keep the flame of Gamble Rogers' musical legacy burning brightly for the next generation of Florida musicians."  I am happy to report that the campaign has met its fundraising goal for production of the project, although contributions are still being gratefully accepted at  The Oklawaha County Jamboree, A Gamble Rogers Tribute by Gatorbone Studios — Kickstarter. Now, though, a wonderful concert has been added to the fundraising mix, which will take place on Sunday, June 30th, downtown at Trade Winds Lounge beginning at 1:30 p.m. The lineup for this show includes Lon & Lis Williamson, Maja Gitana, Jim Carrick & Don Blitch, the aforementioned beloved Bob Patterson, and one-man wonder Ben Prestage.  There is a suggested donation of $15, and reservations are strongly recommended, considering the size and seating capacity of the venue.  Call the Trade Winds at 904-826-1590 to reserve your seats.

I think that's it for this week's news - the calendar has been updated with all the shows I have been sent - if I don't have yours, please email me your gig schedule at lisamackps@aol.com.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend - be safe and have fun!

As always . . .
