The flora, fauna and folklore of “wild” St. Augustine have inspired artists for centuries. On Friday, August 24, the St. Augustine Art Association presents Wild St. Augustine: Musings on Art, an entertaining evening of storytelling that brings three historic North Florida naturalist artists to life.

Re-enactors in period clothing step into the roles of Jacques LeMoyne, Martin Johnson Heade, and John James Audubon to muse upon their experiences roaming area marshes, rivers and settlements in pursuit of the primeval beauty of man and nature. Iconic works of famous art punctuate their stories, along with cutting edge recycled fashions inspired by nature motifs.  Produced by Melissa Stuart, theatrical director and history guide, the performance is set against the stunning backdrop of the 9th Annual Nature & Wildlife Art Exhibition, an installation of 130 works of fine art from across the country.

Reservations are required. Doors open at 6:15pm so visitors may view the art exhibition before it closes on August 26.  Program begins at 7:00pm.   For seating and information, call the St. Augustine Art Association at 904-824-2310.
