All are Welcome to the Avero House Event on Wednesday May 10, 2023 at 3:00pm in the Courtyard of St. Photios National Shrine.

Executive Director, Polly Hillier, will share the steps by which Shrine Architect, Ted Pappas, FAIA, received the commission to restore to exact specification this Colonial Spanish home and create a National Shrine with a Byzantine Chapel.  The Avero House is where the survivors of the New Smyrna Colony found refuge following a decade of tragedy.

A very special guest will join us that day, Mrs. Antonia Avero. Antonia will share what life is like on the street for her 18th century extended family.

Light refreshments will be served.
