TRU, a special production and collaboration with Limelight Theatre co-founder Jean Rahner, will be performed in the Black Box Theatre on November 17-20, 2022.
Actor Jan Peter Buksar plays Truman Capote in this one-man play written by Jay Presson Allen (1922-2006). It is based on the writings and works of the inimitable 20th century author – a prolific American screenwriter, playwright, stage director, television producer and novelist.
Allen’s script introduces us to Capote at a low point; suffering from booze and pills and the loss of his longtime friends, who felt betrayed when excerpts from his unfinished novel Answered Prayers were printed in “Esquire”. As a writer, Capote had an uncanny ability to befriend and elicit intimate details from people from all walks of life. Onstage, Capote explains how and why he is able to connect with people, extract their deepest, darkest secrets and incorporate these details into his published works.
