Save the dates for the St. Augustine Music Festival 2019…one of the nation’s largest, free classical music festivals. Artistic Director Jorge Peña has created six concerts of outstanding music for you to enjoy at the 13th season of the nation’s largest, free classical music festival. The Cathedral’s beauty, location and acoustics make it the premier St. Augustine venue for classical music.
Simple Beauty is the opening theme for our 2019 Concert Series with the clean simplicity of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and the beautiful melodies and harmonies of Franz Schubert. Nigel Armstrong, our featured violin soloist, will perform Mozart’s Violin Concerto No. 5 while the SAMF Chamber Orchestra will play the beautiful Schubert Symphony No. 5.
Looking beyond our opening Simple Beauty concert and ahead to our second week of performances we are pleased to welcome Scott Watkins, American Pianist and Professor of Music at Jacksonville University. This concert will feature music of Franz Schubert, Howard Hanson, and Franz Liszt. The theme of this all-piano performance on June 28 is Piano Extravaganza. Both of our soloists this year are noted on their respective instruments.
Performances are Thursday through Saturday, June 20-22 and June 27-29, 2019. Doors open at 7:00pm / Concerts begin at 7:30pm.
