All around the world, the purpose of a scarecrow is to keep birds away from crops and gardens.  In celebration of the hardworking agricultural community in St Johns County, Rype & Readi is holding a Scarecrow Building competition.

School groups, sports teams, local clubs, or good friends are weclome to come and build their own scarecrow. Use your creative talents and accessories to represent your school, club, group or theme. Expert assistance from our scarecrow techs is available on site! Feel free to bring your own “add-ons” to really customize your scarecrow. It’s a great way to show your school spirit or promote fellowship in your group! A pole, clothes, straw, tools, and fasteners are provided for teams.

Pictures of all scarecrows will be posted on Rype & Readi’s facebook page and website. Furthermore, visitors to the sites can vote on their favorite and points.  Winners are announced on Tuesday, October 31. Prizes go to the best in these categories: best in the show, most creative, scariest, most kid-friendly, funniest, Rype & Readi staff pick. Prizes include gift cards to the downtown market and admission to special events.
