The Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents, proudly welcomes rising Americana stars Reckless Kelly and Nikki Lane as they co-headline at the Concert Hall on Thursday, January 24, 2019.
Understanding the virtuosity of Reckless Kelly requires the perspective of where the band has been. Cody and Willy Braun grew up in the White Cloud Mountains of Idaho. They moved to Bend, Oregon and then migrated to that great musical fountainhead, Austin, Texas. The band’s co-founders and frontmen toured the country as part of their father’s band, Muzzie Braun and the Boys, as children. They performed on The Tonight Show twice. They overcame hardships, struggled for recognition, and learned the lessons of the trial and error that defined them.
The group’s new album, “Sunset Motel”, is, like all its predecessors, distinctive in its’ own way while true to form and reflects Reckless Kelly’s attention to craft and continuity. Twenty years since its founding, Reckless Kelly continues to fight for wider recognition, secure in the knowledge that fans, critics and contemporaries will continue to sing its praises.
Nikki Lane, the young Nashville singer, is quickly emerging as one of country and rock’s most gifted songwriters. Her latest album, “Highway Queen”, was co-produced by Lane and fellow singer-songwriter, Jonathan Tyler, and is an emotional tour-de-force. Blending potent lyrics, unbridled blues guitars and vintage Sixties country-pop swagger, Lane’s new music will resonate as easily with Lana Del Rey and Jenny Lewis fans as those of Neil Young and Tom Petty. “Highway Queen” is poised to be Lane’s mainstream breakthrough.
