Parks & Rec 50th Anniversary Celebrations

St. Johns County Parks and Recreation’s 50th Anniversary is in July 2022.  To celebrate the milestone, Parks & Rec is holding several community-wide events throughout the summer.  The celebrations are family-friendly, free and open to the public.  At each celebration, there will be an unveiling of a special 50th Anniversary logo.

The events also include opportunities to learn about the history of Parks & Rec, discover new parks and playgrounds, and check out new programs hosted by the department.

July 9, 2022 | 9:00am-12:00pm — Birthday Splash Bash — Solomon Calhoun Center | Swimming, contests, splash pad, food, music…and of course, cake! Limited to 100 participants.

July 13, 2022 | 9:00am-10:00am — Family Wedge Clinic — Treaty Park | Clinic for adults and families in anticipation of SJC Golf Club’s new course opening in the Fall. Limited to 20.

July 14, 2022 | 4:00pm-5:00pm — 50th Anniversary Beach Walk — Mussallem Beachfront Park | Travel back in time on this beach walk and tour; learn about history of Parks & Rec.

July 16, 2022 | 9:00am-11:00am — Porch Talks — Alpine Groves | Learn the history of St. Johns County through reenactors at one of the county’s most historic parks.

July 16, 2022 | 9:00am-12:00pm — Disk Golf Clinic — SJC Fairgrounds | Learn from pros and enthusiasts how to play one of the country’s fastest growing sports.

July 23, 2022 | 8:00am-11:30am — Kids Fishing Tournament — St. Johns County Ocean and Fishing Pier | Kids “Catch and Release” Fishing Tournament

July 30, 2022 | 8:30pm — Movie in the Park — Nocatee Community Park | Bring your favorite snacks and picnic gear and enjoy the family-friendly viewing of Space Jam 2.
