Nights of Lights “Light Up! Night”, one of the most anticipated events in St. Augustine, is a great way to kick-off the Holiday season. This year is extra special as Nights of Lights is celebrating 25 years!
Festivities begin at 4:00pm in front of the Lightner Museum with a performance by Showtime USA, a song and dance troupe of young people. Crowds of people then make their way to the Gazebo in the Plaza de la Constitución for the start of the All Star Orchestra as they take the stage with great swing and big band sounds all in grand holiday style at 5:30pm.
Thousands gather to listen to the music, then participate in the countdown that begins at 6:30pm for the lighting of the Christmas Tree, followed by the crowd participating in the countdown to set downtown St. Augustine aglow in millions of tiny white lights.
Stick around afterwards and enjoy the entertainment, do some Christmas shopping, grab a bite to eat, or wander around downtown and soak in the ambience of downtown St. Augustine all aglow.
There will be Light Up Night Shuttle Service from Anastasia Island to help alleviate traffic and parking downtown. Pick up locations are: Anastasia Baptist Church at 1650 A1A South, St. Augustine Amphitheatre at 1340-C A1A South, and R.B. Hunt Elementary at 125 Magnolia Dr. It is set to run from 4:00pm to 11:00pm. There will also be the two parking lots on the west side of the bridge running from 1:00pm to 11:00pm. They are located at 301 San Marco Ave and the St. Johns County Health Department.
Nights of Lights runs from November 17th through the end of February 3, 2019.
