All Abilities Paddle
Join SJC Parks & Rec on an All Abilities Paddle. The trip is designed specifically for individuals (and their families) who need adaptations due to physical or mental disabilities. Whether you are new to paddling or have always dreamed of exploring the beautiful waterways in the county, this is your opportunity to do so in a safe, supportive environment!
Where: Trout Creek Park Boat Ramp
When: Saturday, July 19, 2025 — 6:30pm-9:00pm
Certified kayaking staff that are trained in adaptive paddling techniques will be on hand. They are also trained to use specialized equipment to ensure comfort and accessibility for all participants. they will work with each individual to meet their specific needs.
No experience necessary. Just bring your sense of adventure!
Adaptations Available Include
* Tandem Kayak (you must have your own caregiver with you to assist with paddling)
* back of Hand Grips – for those with grip issues
* Cushions to provide lumber support, relieve sitting and hip pressure
* Outriggers to stabilize the kayak
* Transfer bench and wheels to safely allow those in wheelchairs to get in and out of kayak (Must be able to self transfer)
* Modified paddle that permits safe paddling with one arm
* Modified paddleboard that has foot pedals and a hand rudder
