The In the Mood Art Exhibit, artwork by world-renowned artist Harry McCormick, will be on display all summer at the St. Johns County Administrative Building’s Rotunda. Sponsored by the St. Johns County Cultural Council and supported in part by a grant from the Crisp-Ellert Fund of the Community Foundation of Northeast Florida, the showing is scheduled for July 3-Sept. 20 with a grand opening July 17 from 8:15-9 a.m., in the Rotunda prior to the regularly scheduled St. Johns County Commission meeting. McCormick’s painting, Stocca Baccala, which was awarded first place in the prestigious St. Augustine Art Association Spring Show, will be featured at the exhibition along with 40 other McCormick masterpiece works.
McCormick, who recently moved to the St. Johns County area, will be on site for much of the showing. The New Jersey native is noted for his realistic paintings with a focus on light and shadow and he has been called a painter of “interiors” and “genre”‘ – such as ordinary people doing ordinary things like a series of people looking at paintings in museums and galleries.
There is no admission charge and the public is welcome at the St. Johns County Administration Building, during normal business hours, Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Please note that since this is a county administration building, a security station entry is required at the main entrance.
