Sunday, May 31, 2020, Fresh Produce Meal Kits will be distributed — one per family-of-four — while supplies last. Meal kits come boxed and include an Apple Cider Balsamic Broccoli Sauté, Vegetable Stir Fry Kit, Caesar Salad, Honey Dijon Spinach Salad, Coleslaw Salad and Crisp Apple Slices.
The event is drive-thru. Volunteers will load the vehicle.
Time: 1:00pm-4:00pm | No Early Arrivals Can Be Accommodated Due to Traffic Constraints.
Location: City of St. Augustine Parking Garage. The parking garage drive-thru transportation loop is accessed from the entrance at 10 S. Castillo Drive, adjacent to the Visitor Information Center and the garage.
The event is in response to food insecurity caused by COVID-19. Michael’s of St. Augustine, Five Star Gourmet Foods, True Floridian Clothing Co., A Chefs Adventure, Chefs Collaborative, United Way of St. Johns and the City of St. Augustine are working together to distribute 1,300 fresh produce meal kits.
Kits are prepackaged and provided through CARES Act grant funding to assist in harvesting produce from farmers nationwide that would otherwise be wasted, disposed of, or left to rot in fields due to decreased demand – another result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
