During First Friday Art Walk, don’t miss the First Friday Art Walk Recital at the Cathedral Basilica.   Recitals are open to the public and vary each month from organ music to piano to flute to performances by choruses / choirs. Be sure to stop in … the acoustics in the Cathedral make the music memorable.

February’s recital will feature organ recitalist Mr. Rich Lewis. Rich has performed concerts and recitals around the United States and Canada, including two American Theatre Organ Society national conventions and an American Guild of Organists regional convention. His program will consist of works by R. Purvis, C. M. Widor, Lefebvre-Wely, Bach and Mussorgsky.

Beginning his musical training at the age of 6, Rich began playing the organ for church services and was introduced to the large Kimball theatre pipe organ in John Dickinson High School in Wilmington at the age of 13.  He won the American Theatre Organ Society’s National Young Organist Competition at the age of 17.

Rich’s formal education was at Westminster Choir College, in Princeton, New Jersey, where he majored in Sacred Music and Organ Performance. Since 2014, he’s been the organist at Riverside Park United Methodist Church in Jacksonville.

Doors open at 5:30pm / Recitals begin at 6:00pm.   Free-will offerings are accepted.
