A special Film Screening of “Soul of a People” is at The Waterworks on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at 2:00pm.
The event is presented by The St. Johns County Public Library System in partnership with the St. Johns Cultural Council and the Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine.
“Soul of a People” explores the Federal Writers’ Project, one of the controversial programs of the Works Progress Administration (WPA). It presents a vivid picture of one of the most challenging times in American history. The Federal Writers’ Project was one of many New Deal programs put in place by the WPA, employing men and women at all levels of society.
This screening is provided through a special agreement between the Friends of the Main Library St. Augustine and the producers of the film. There will be some commentary at the beginning of the program that will provide a look at various WPA projects in St. Johns County that we still benefit from today.
Free with seating on a first come, first served basis as space is limited.
Refreshments will be provided.
