Exhibition Opening at Governor’s House
Join us on May 12, 2022 for the Exhibition Opening of “First Day of Issue: St. Augustine’s Quadricentennial Stamp” at Governor’s House Cultural Center & Museum.
The exhibit features historic first-day covers that were released in commemoration of St. Augustine’s 400th Anniversary. A first-day cover is a collectible envelope with a commemorative stamp, a postmark showing the location of the issue and often elaborate illustrations.
Made possible by the donation of Martin Severe – a philatelist from Rockville, Maryland – the featured first day covers return to the post office of origin for the first time since 1965.
Free and open to the public, the Governor’s House is open Wednesday-Sunday from 10:00am-5:00pm.
