Gather at Alpine Groves Park for the Annual River Blessing 2022 on Saturday, January 29, 2022, 9:00am-11:00am.

Honoring the water of earth who all life depends on. Started in 2008 with an elder of the Lakota Nation who visited Florida.

A selection of speakers includes the River Keepers of St. Johns, Matanzas, St. Mary’s speaking about their connection to the rivers in Florida. Representatives of the Sante Fe and the Florida aquifer will also offer inspirational words.

They’re followed by a silent, non-denominational ceremony of passing the bowl of water around to each participant, guided by a heartbeat drum inspired by First Nations.

The ceremony concludes by silently walking to the river leading with the drum and returning the St. Johns River back to its’ home.
