Join the St. Augustine Music Festival on Sunday, June 19, 2022 at 7:30pm for the 2022 Juneteenth Celebration. Held at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Augustine, the event celebrates the end of slavery in the United States.
Juneteenth (short for “June Nineteenth”) marks the day – June 19, 1865 – when federal troops arrived in Galveston Texas to take control of the state and ensure that all enslaved people were now free. The troops’ arrival came two and a half years after the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Lincoln.
Pianist, Terrence Wilson will be returning to perform. At the 2021 Celebration, he delighted the audience with his extraordinary technique and gorgeous sound.
