DEAN PARRISH hosts the monthly “Last Friday” concert and Open Mic at the Larimer Arts Center in Palatka. “Live at the Larimer” is celebrating its second year as a coffeehouse with this monthly musical event held the fourth Friday of each month. Entertainment begins at 7 p.m., and the cost is $5, which covers the price of refreshements. The events are sponsored by the Arts Council of Greater Palatka.

The newly remodeled St. Augustine Amphitheater will host its inaugural event when the 11th Annual TASTE OF ST. AUGUSTINE takes place this Saturday, the 28th. Accompanying the “Taste” will be the first annual ANCIENT CITY BLUES FESTIVAL, which will feature a variety of great music all day long to go with the fantastic food being served up by some 25 of the area’s best restaurants. Festivities will kick off at noon, and the music schedule, presented by the newly formed Ancient City Blues Society, is as follows:

12-1 p.m. - CHRISTIAN SUN and the WEST AFRICAN DRUM MASTERS

1:30-2:30 p.m. – MARK “MUDDY HARP” HODGSON and MICHAEL WELCH

3-4 p.m. - SOULO LYONS BAND

4:30–6 p.m. – J.W. GILMORE & THE BLUES AUTHORITY

6:30-8 p.m. – THE BOXROCKERS, featuring WILLIE GREEN

8:30-10 p.m. – JOEY GILMORE, winner of the 2006 International Blues Challenge.

The GAMBLE ROGERS FESTIVAL is coming up the first weekend in May, and tickets are now available for the first festival in the brand new Amphitheater. A Benefit Yard Sale For Community Hospice, in memory of Donita Alley Quarto, will be held on Saturday, May 19th, in the parking lot at May Management, 5455 A1A South, from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. (Rain date May 20).

The event will include refreshments, face painting for kids, and music by D.J. Tom. Donations of items to sell are being accepted - to donate items for the sale please contact Deborah Alley - dondermom@yahoo.com or 377-1563, or Dotti Alley - alleysis2@yahoo.com or 471-0325. If you need storage for the items you are donating please call Heather at 222-1023. All storage items must be delivered on Saturday, May 12.
