 During the holidays, St. Augustine becomes a truly magical place. On Saturday, November 22, 2014 the city will celebrate the 21st Anniversary of the award-winning Nights of Lights event, and every year, from opening night through its 10-week display, the holidays in St. Augustine offers more things to do than you'll have time for, and holds the distinctive honor as one of the 10 BEST HOLIDAY DISPLAYS IN THE WORLD, according to National Geographic.

This celebratory season begins with what has been coined Light-Up Night, when the town  is filled to bursting with celebrating residents and visitors anticipating the moment when the Major flips the switch, lighting up beautiful downtown St. Augustine with millions of tiny white lights glowing bright and magical everywhere you look. Call it a Florida winter wonderland. It's truly a sight to behold, and is sure to send you straight into the holiday spirit, filling your heart with all the magic that comes during this most wonderful time of the year.

There's Something Special About St. Augustine's Nights of Lights

During Nights of Lights St. Augustine, romance is in the air as couples stroll the streets hand-in-hand or take a horse and carriage ride from their B&B to their favorite restaurant. Many couples say their vows in gorgeous Holiday weddings. And families can be seen on the Holly Jolly Trolley or Santa's as they joyfully sing Christmas Carols or as they make their way across the Bridge of Lions to "December to Remember" events at the St. Augustine ts Ampitheatre. Enjoy history, romance, and precious family time this holiday season during Nights of Lights in St. Augustine.

First, on top of good news, there's more good news. Not all, but many of these events are free. Just check our calendar by clicking on the links to find out all the details. Vilano Beach hosts the Dressing of the Palms, a very Florida site to behold as palm trees wrapped in holiday lights reflect across the ocean. The December to Remember series at the Ampitheatre is the perfect place for family fun, complete with holiday movies, live performances and much more, beginning with a screening of Miracle on 34th Street.
