St. Augustine Music News, March 12-18, 2010
March 12th, 2010Greetings, Music Lovers!
There is so much going on this weekend in the wonderful world of music! I am hoping the weather will improve for these outdoor festivals, all happening this weekend in or around St. Augustine. In the interest of saving time, I will not list entire music line-ups for these events, as the lists are very long, but I will include websites you can visit to find out who’s happening where.
The 2nd Annus HARVEST OF HOPE FESTIVAL www.harvestofhopefest.com is going on at the St. Johns County Fairgrounds all weekend, featuring music on multiple stages by scores of alternative bands, as well as a few more “traditional” artists, such as Willie Green. The website has the full schedule, ticket info and more. In addition to music, the event will feature arts & crafts, films, and exhibits by local nonprofits. All proceeds benefit Harvest of Hope Foundation, a nonprofit organization that provides financial, educational, and service-oriented support to migrant farm workers and their families all over the country. The event opens at 4 p.m. Friday, and runs until 11 p.m. Sunday.
The 29th Annual LIONS SEAFOOD FESTIVAL is happening all weekend at Francis Field, featuring arts & crafts vendors & exhibits, live music all weekend, and of course, all manner of fabulous seafood. This year’s event is being headlined by VALERIE SMITH & LIBERTY PIKE. Check out the full lineup, festival hours and more at www.lionsfestival.com.
And on Sunday, the 14th, the 2nd Annual SOUTHERN EXPOSURE MUSIC & HERITAGE FESTIVAL will take place at Alpine Grove Park in Switzerland. Hosted by Stetson Kennedy, one of Florida’s most beloved authors, musicians and human rights activists, the event features a great lineup of local and regional artists, including ARLO GUTHRIE. Also featured will be historical exhibits, traditional southern food, kids’ activites, storytellers, cultural exhibits, a barn dance, and “Old Florida” vendors. Visit www.southernexposurefestival.com for full music lineup and other details.
