Zappa Plays Zappa’s “One Size Fits All” 40th Anniversary Tour will be at the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall. Growing up the son of Frank Zappa, Dweezil heard the music his father was working on or listening to at home while being exposed to some new sounds on the radio like Edward Van Halen and Randy Rhoads. At the age of 12 he made his first onstage appearance with his father’s band at the Hammersmith Odeon in London and recorded his first single, “My Mother Is A Space Cadet”.
He has released several albums over the years. In 1991, with the release of his third album, he began to branch out musically, blending his heavy rock approach with touches of his father’s distinct compositional insignia. Over the next several years, he worked on bringing his father’s legendary music back to the concert stage. In the spring of 2006, Dweezil’s new live band Zappa Plays Zappa hit the road for their first tour. Dweezil redefined Zappa Plays Zappa mission as a band In 2012 and sculpted it into the current 6 piece configuration he takes on tour. This fine assortment of handpicked musicians all have their own unique qualifications but it’s their dedication to preserving and performing the detailed music of Frank Zappa that unites them and thrills audiences across the globe.
