Unburied Treasure of St. Augustine Exhibit

Sacred Vessels, that have been in Boston the past 135 years and were discovered in 1879 by workers in a St. Augustine citrus grove, will be on exhibit at the Mission Nombre de Dios Museum.  On loan from the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the four religious objects made of silver hollow ware date back to the 1600s and may be among the earliest surviving items used in Christian worship in the United States.

The four objects on display are:

• Standing Cup about 1750-1800 silver
• Paten 18th century gilt silver
• Chalice (cáliz) about 1600 gilt silver
• Ciborium 18th century silver bowl; copper or bronze baluster bowl with lid, stem and foot

Museum Hours
Thursday – Saturday    10am-4pm
Sunday                            12pm-4pm

Admission is free with Donations appreciated!  The exhibit will be on display through mid-August 2016 approximately.
