The St. Johns Cultural Council is offering a workshop titled “Put Your Best Voice Forward: Vocal Health for Community Performers”. Singers and community performers are vocal athletes both on and off the stage! We stretch our voices to the limits in terms of pitch, loudness, and stamina. Nearly 8 million people in the US alone have experienced problems with their voices, especially singers, teachers, actors and other professional voice users.
This important workshop will be led by Tara Nixon, MM, MS, CCC-SLP, Singing Voice Specialist, Senior Clinician, Speech-Language Pathologist, Duke Voice Care Center and will provide participants with the following education:
Vocal fold injuries
Ddiagnosis/treatment of voice problems
Prevention of voice injuries
Vvocal pacing strategies
Efficient speaking voice technique
Vocal registers and
Mechanics of classical vs. belt singing techniques
Optimizing vocal pacing
