A one-day-only “Pop-Up Record Market”, presented by local record shop Tonevendor, will be hosted at Planet Sarbez. There will be over a dozen dealers offering collectible as well as budget-friendly vinyl records, CDs, memorabilia, posters, books, toys, movies, and every other piece of music merchandise imaginable.
The St. Augustine Record Fair, held bi-annually, has grown to immense popularity, attracting over 1,500 attendees. The “Pop-Up Record Market” is a smaller scale event, designed to tide over the music fans and crate diggers who love to frequent the Record Fair each Spring and Fall. Over 10,000 items are estimated to fill up the Pop-Up Record Market, to be located within the local restaurant/venue for 4 hours only. In addition to plenty of music for sale, there will also be food and drink specials throughout the event, and live music will be performed after the event by St. Augustine musicians Telepathic Lines, Kenny and the Jets and others yet to be announced.
Organizer Dan Sostrom, who owns the local record shop Tonevendor, says “each time we host the Record Fair at the Amphitheatre, tons of people tell me ‘you should do this more often!’ There are many reasons that we don’t, but I thought why not do something on a smaller scale in between the two Record Fairs? So we came up with the idea of a ‘Pop-Up Record Market’, where we will still have many different dealers. However, each dealer is limited to one table only, so they will be forced to bring their best stuff. If this Pop-Up Market idea is successful, we will likely do one each winter and summer.”
