The St. Augustine Ballet will be holding encore performances of Peter Pan May 14th and May 15th. Audience members are encouraged to join in the fun and come dressed as pirates. They are also encouraged to bring jars of Peter Pan Peanut Butter to donate to the St. Francis House Food Pantry.
The cast of this classic story includes a mix of student dancers, local celebrities, and professional dancers. The role of Wendy will be danced by thirteen-year-old Harlow Hatin, daughter of Jodi Kotrady-Hatin and Joe Hatin. She’s danced many roles for the ballet already. Lily Clingan-Darack, a St. Augustine High School senior, has been cast as the meddling fairy Tinkerbell. She’s the daughter of Joel and Laurie Clingan-Darack and will be attending The Boston Conservatory as a BFA Dance Major in the fall of 2016.
Cuban trained dancer Daet Rodriguez will be reprising his role as Peter Pan. Daet studied ballet at the prestigious National Ballet School of Cuba in Havana and later danced with Cuba’s Ballet de Camaguey and the Teatro Centro de Arte-Leon Febres Cordero in Ecuador.
William “Mayhem” McRea, local pirate celebrity, returns in the role as the nefarious Captain Hook. Known as the Pirate Magician of Saint Augustine, McRea is an experienced Las Vegas entertainer and Pirate Magician in residence at the St. Augustine Pirate and Treasure Museum. McRea brings with him the pirate crew, St. Augustine Swashbucklers, who will greet the audience as they come to the theatre and be available for photographs in the lobby.
Tapping their way through Neverland as pirates will be Florida’s premiere professional tap ensemble, Noise Complaint, led by lead dancer and choreographer, Jenne Vermes.
The pre-show entertainment will be provided by pirates Dirty James (James Knowles), Sunnybritches (Linda Schwandt), and Captain Pointless (Tracy Schwandt) performing as The Rogues Tavern Band.
