Award-winning artist Claire Kendrick will give a fascinating talk about her summer artist National Park residency experience in Cape Cod. She was selected through the Provincetown Community Compact to create a body of work in one of the primitive Dune Shacks situated along the far-flung coastal region of Massachusetts. Kendrick spent 10 days without the creature-comforts of electricity, indoor plumbing, cell phone, or computer, challenging her to adapt with nature in solitude.
While there, she produced a powerful collection of paintings that are currently featured in the St. Augustine Art Association Marguerita Phillips Gallery. These and other works will be highlighted during the talk. Kendrick will also share tips for artists on how to pursue and prepare for a residency as well as the historical connection of the Provincetown and St. Augustine art colonies.
