In honor of artist Don Trousdell, who passed in January 2017, his signature exhibition “Ordinary People” will be on display September 1 – October 1. The collection of colorful paintings and storyboards highlights the first settlers who founded and built St. Augustine during the 16th century. The exhibit was created to commemorate the 450th Anniversary of St. Augustine and showcased to rave reviews at the Visitor’s Center during the City’s year-long celebration. The upcoming installation is sponsored by Joseph and Jane Boles.
Don Trousdell was an honorary Life Member of the St. Augustine Art Association. Several of his exhibitions premiered at the Art Association, including “Walk in Peace,” an artistic journey of the history and imagery of peace installed on the 10th Anniversary of 9/11, “Children of the Universe,” an exploration of space through the eyes of a child, which subsequently traveled to the MOSH in Jacksonville, and most recently “A Sailor’s Life,” canvas rubbings that explore life aboard the historic San Pelayo.
A Tribute Gathering for Don Trousdell will take place on Sunday, September 3, at 2 p.m. at the St. Augustine Art Association, 22 Marine Street. Those who had an appreciation for the artist and his work are invited to attend. For reservations, please call (904) 461-5623.
