John Mellencamp and his Sad Clowns & Hillbillies Tour

June 24 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm

| Prices Vary

The St. Augustine Amphitheatre proudly presents American Rock And Roll Hall of Famer John Mellencamp as he brings his Sad Clowns & Hillbillies Tour with special guest Emmylou Harris as well as Carlene Carter and Lily & Madeleine!

Every online ticket purchased comes with one (1) physical CD of John Mellencamp’s forthcoming album,  “Sad Clowns & Hillbillies”.   John’s 23rd full-length album, featuring Carlene Carter returns Mellencamp to the musical eclecticism that is, itself, a reflection of his wide-ranging musings on life. “Sad Clowns & Hillbillies” showcases a poet who has wisely used the years between youth and the present day to become an absolute master of songwriting and interpretation.  That passion and experience resonates most beautifully in this showcase of his music.

Mellencamp’s career in music, spanning more than 35 years, has seen him transition from pop star to one of the most  highly respected singer/songwriters of a generation.  He’s a member of  the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, a Grammy winner, a recipient of the John Steinbeck Award, ASCAP Foundation’s Champion Award, The Woody Guthrie Award,  Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award, and more recently, the Founders Award, the top honor assigned by the American Society of  Composers, Authors and Publishers.  He is also one of the most successful live concert performers in the world.

A 13-time Grammy winner and Billboard Century Award  recipient, Emmylou Harris’ contribution as a singer and songwriter spans 40 years. She’s recorded more than 25 albums and has lent her talents to countless fellow artists’ recordings. In recognition of her remarkable career, Harris was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2008.  One of the most admired and influential women in music, Harris is known as much for her eloquently straightforward songwriting as for her incomparably expressive singing. She’s sold more than 15 million records, garnered 13 GRAMMY Awards, three CMA Awards, and two Americana Awards.

Daughter of country music legends June Carter and Carl Smith, stepdaughter of Johnny Cash, and granddaughter of “Mother” Maybelle Carter of the original Carter Family, Carlene Carter started her own career in the late 1970s.  Carter recorded acclaimed country rock albums with the best of the new-wave rock musicians in England, then hit the U.S. Country charts in the early 1990s with her GRAMMY nominated “I Fell In Love” album, and the international hit single “Every Little Thing”.  Referred to as an “Americana legend,” she simply calls herself a Carter Girl.

Lily & Madeleine are an American folk pop duo from Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, which consists of sisters Lily and Madeleine Jurkiewicz. They’ve released three full-length albums, “Lily & Madeleine” and “Fumes” on Asthmatic Kitty and “Keep It Together” on New West Records.
