Celtic folk duo Jig to a Milestone will be hosting their St. Augustine album/CD release party Wednesday, October 7th. Jig to a Milestone will be joined by The Bath Salt Zombies of Daytona, FL and the Wobbly Toms of St. Augustine. The Zombies provide an incredible full band experience variously described as grunge grass, carnival freak folk, and sideshow cabaret. The Toms play age old traditionals, classic folk, gypsy punk, and American pub rock – while generating something entirely theirs.
This album/CD release is for Jig to a Milestone’s second full length album “Crawford’s Pub”. “Crawford’s Pub” features local Celtic musicians and singers, bringing the pub experience to your car. It includes several pub classics, full band instrumentals, live chorus sea shanties, and two original tunes. This album focuses on traditional acoustic instrumentation and songs that span the centuries.
The duo is made up of St. Augustine local, Jason Catron, as well as Victoria Van Arnam of Micanopy, FL. Jason brings the vocals and rhythm to the stage and album, as well as covering a barrage of stringed instruments including guitar, Irish bouzouki, mandocello, tenor banjo, and mandolin. Tearing through jigs at a breakneck speed, Jason’s fingers of fire take flight on his handy tin whistle. His rich, lilting baritone fills the air with the purest tone that will make you believe you’re kissing the Blarney Stone!
Victoria Van Arnam lays her talent on the Hammered Dulcimer as she is the cornerstone of their signature sound. Her tiny wooden hammers dance over the strings to produce haunting melodies and rousing choruses. The delightful ambiance of the dulcimer is not one to be missed!
Doors open at 7pm and there is a $2 cover and Tullamore Dew is on special.
