The number-one selling duo in music history, Daryl Hall and John Oates, will return to the St. Augustine Amphitheatre with special guest Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue. Starting out as two devoted disciples of earlier soul greats, Daryl Hall & John Oates are soul survivors in their own right. They’ve become such musical influences on some of today’s popular artists that the September 2006 cover of Spin Magazine’s headline read: “Why Hall and Oates are the New Velvet Underground”. One of the most sampled artists today, their impact can be heard everywhere from boy band harmonies, to neo-soul to rap-rock fusion. They’ve sold more albums than any other duo in music history.
New Orleans native Trombone Shorty is the bandleader and frontman of Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue, a hard-edged funk band that employs hip-hop beats, rock dynamics and improvisation in a jazz tradition. They’ve toured the U.S. and Canada, Europe, Australia, Japan, Russia, and Brazil. In January 2014, they performed on the 56th Annual GRAMMY Awards with Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Mary Lambert, Madonna, and Queen Latifah. The band has also made guest appearances on Conan, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Arsenio, and Austin City Limits.
