The Gamble Rogers Concert Series kicks off 2018 with a performance by singer/songwriter David Mallett, one of America’s true original troubadours. During his career, which has spanned four decades, he’s recorded 14 albums, has had several hundred covers of his songs (including the American fold classic Garden Song “Inch by Inch, Row by Row”) and has performed in clubs, concert halls, and festivals across the US, Canada, and Europe. His carefully written, poetic offerings have provided material for artists that include Alison Krauss, Pete Seeger, John Denver, Emmylou Harris, Hal Ketchum, and the Muppets.
Opening the concert will be Larry Mangum. Host and co-founder of the Songwriters’ Circle in Jacksonville, Larry makes regular appearances at the Florida Folk Festival, the Will McLean Festival, the South Florida Folk Festival, the Sarasota Folk Festival, the Gamble Rogers Folk Festival and many more. He’s made concert appearances with music legends that include the late Waylon Jennings, Roger McGuinn, David Mallett, The Texas Playboys, Billy Joe Shaver, Vassar Clements, Ray Price, Martina McBride, Juice Newton, Steve Young, Gene Watson, T.G. Sheppard, T. Graham Brown, and Alabama to name a few.
