Join local St. Augustine artists Robert Hall, Gayle Prevatt, and Enzo Torcoletti for their Fragments of Time, Place, and Form Opening Reception on Friday, January 6th from 5:30pm-7:30pm. Come meet the artists, share refreshments, and enjoy their work.
Robert Hall has reenacted and recreated Florida’s unique history in different media in both paintings and Living History. Through color and texture, Professor Hall has involved both politics and current, cultural issues in his art. As chairman of the Art Department at Flagler College for 28 years, he taught art history and also worked in photography, ceramics, and painting.
Finding inspiration from the vivid life around her, Florida artist Gayle Prevatt celebrates the love of nature in her artwork with layers of textured color and patterns of light and shadow infusing her paintings, pottery, and jewelry. Gayle began painting studies at age eleven with respected teacher Lenore Byrd, then continued at Flagler College where she received her BA in art. Her career highlights include a grant award from St. Johns County and Museum Curator for the state of Florida.
Born in Italy, where he attended art school before moving to Canada where he received a B.A. in English Literature and a B.F.A. in Sculpture and Printmaking from the University of Windsor, Enzo Torcoletti completed his M.F.A. in Sculpture at Florida State University, then moved to St. Augustine. He is an Emeritus Professor of Art at Flagler College where he taught Sculpture, Drawing, and Art History since 1971. Recently Enzo’s energies have been directed primarily to stone carvings that he works on in either his St. Augustine studio or his studio in Italy. His work has been extensively shown and is included in numerous private, public, and museum collections here and abroad.
If you can’t make it to the Opening Reception, their work will be on display Monday through Thursday from 10:00am-4:00pm through January 27, 2017.
