The Enterprising Women’s Leadership Institute, Inc. (EWLI) meets on the third Thursday of the month. Join with other leaders throughout the community to hear dynamic speakers discuss contemporary topics relevant to today’s complex and fast-paced lifestyles. June Leadership Roundtable: “Engage!” The Guana, Tolomato, Matanzas Research Reserve – A St. John’s County Jewel” features Kenneth Rainer, GTMRR as Speaker. Kenneth has a Master’s Degree in Biology from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi, with a focus in marine population genetics, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology from Texas A&M University at Galveston, with a focus in marine biology. Since September 2011, Kenneth has worked diligently and enthusiastically as the GTM Research Reserve’s Education Coordinator.
Kenneth’s work at the GTM Research Reserve has increased his knowledge and skills pertaining to informal education, interpretation, integrating technology into field education, and providing field experiences versus field trips. His work has also increased his knowledge and skills pertaining to key issues regarding ocean and coastal environments including, but not limited to: sea level rise and climate change; overfishing; marine protected areas; ecosystem service valuation; coastal and estuarine resiliency regarding man-made and natural effects; coral bleaching; hypoxic events; and, ocean acidification.
The meetings are held at the Corazon Cinema and Cafe’ where there is plenty of free parking behind the building and lots of delicious selections are offered for lunch when ordering off the menu.
