This year marks the 16th year of an ongoing Easter Sunrise worship service on Vilano Beach. At 6:45 am, music will be played on the beach for those wanting to meditate as they prepare for worship. Beginning at 7:15 am, this 45-minute worship service will include songs, scripture readings, a message, and an interpretive dance by Living Stones School of Classical Ballet. The service will have traditional and contemporary music with the message of living with joy and hope. Leading the service will be Rev. Sam Schlegel of The Church at Vilano and Rev. Steve Giannetta of the Christian Communion of St. Augustine/Vilano. Anastasia Baptist Church will also assist with the service.
Interpretation for the hearing-impaired will be available. Counselors will also be present to talk after the service with any worshipers. A service of ocean baptism may be held for those desiring immersion to profess their faith in Christ. Interested persons should contact Pastor Schlegel.
There will be no parking on the beach via the Vilano Road access ramp due to beach erosion. An experienced team will direct cars to park in the Publix lot and street parking. For handicapped and others, two traffic circles near the two beach walkovers, and the ramp, can be used for those needing to be dropped off. Restrooms are at the beach pavilion and the south walkover. Attendees may want to bring chairs, blankets, sunglasses, cameras and friends. The worship service is on the east end of Vilano Road.
Donations to help with expenses will be graciously accepted at the welcome tables.
