| Free
FortMatanzas

Come experience this special free Living History Day event, “Early Days of St. Augustine”, at Fort Matanzas National Monument.  Re-enactors, dressed as Spanish soldiers, will describe the daily life of the early soldier here in La Florida.  They’ll also provide presentations about the city’s founders and perform musket firing demonstrations.  Each demonstration will last about 20 minutes and will take place at the top of every hour.  The encampment will be located next to the Fort Matanzas Visitor Center.

The park will also be operating its’ regular ferry service to the fort during this event.  Enjoy a short, free ferry ride to Fort Matanzas and spend about 40 minutes exploring the fort and its role as protector of St. Augustine’s southern approach.  Boarding passes are required for the ferry and are distributed on a first come, first served basis at the park’s visitor center. Space is limited for these ferry trips.  Ferry trips are subject to cancellation due to bad weather.
