Dottie Dorion & Ed Malesky Exhibit Opening Reception

October 21, 2016 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

| Free

Join us at the Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach for an exhibit of original paintings by Dottie Dorion and wood turned works by Ed Malesky.  The two artists sharing the space are a study in contrasts.  The contrast of both artists’ work greatly enhances the qualities inherent in each body of art.

The Open Reception October 21 from 6pm-9pm is free and open to the public with valet parking, live music, appetizers, and cocktails provided by Designed Events Inc. Dottie Dorion is generously donating all sales from her exhibit to the Cultural Center’s educational programs.

Ed Malesky’s states there are two opposing approaches to wood turning: the traditional that features familiar shaped bowls and platters that accentuate the natural beauty of the wood and the more non-objective that gives free reign to the artist’s imagination. Malesky’s black-painted forms are strongly internally inspired.

Much of Dorions’ work is non-objective abstraction and some is evocative of landscapes. “Looking through Dottie Dorion’s paintings, one is moved by a tremendous body of extraordinary work that reveals a very personal view of her life, her world, and her innermost passion. Dramatic use of color and variations of processes are evident. Abstract, non-objective and unbridled, layers of paint reveal subtle transitions of curvaceous line, texture and unexpected color.  Close observation reveals splatters, drips, scratches, brush marks and texture. The selected works in this exhibition are about paint applied as a means of communicating a personal world of conscious and unconscious insights executed with bold conviction.” Paul Ladnier, curator of Dottie Dorion’s work.

Exhibit Dates:  October 21, 2016 – November 11, 2016.
