Indie favorites Death Cab for Cutie and CHVRCHES, with special guests Pure Bathing Culture, will be live in concert at the Amphitheatre June 14th. This concert date is the only Florida co-headlining date for Death Cab for Cutie and CHRVCHES and is presented in partnership with Foundation Presents, JaxLive and X102.9 Jacksonville’s New Alternative.
Death Cab for Cutie formed in 1997 and has released 8 full-length studio albums, four EPs, two live EPs, one live album, and one demo album. The band has also been nominated for 8 GRAMMY awards, received platinum certification for the critically acclaimed 2005 album “Plans”, and their 2011 single “You Are A Tourist” reached #1 on Billboard Alternative Song chart. Death Cab’s latest album it titled “Kintsugi”; kintsugi speaks to the way an object’s history is part of its’ aesthetic value. According to a band member, “Philosophically, spiritually, emotionally, it seems perfect for this group of songs”.
In 2013, when CHVRCHES wrote and recorded their debut “The Bones Of What You Believe”, no one had heard of them. They went on to sell over 500,000 albums worldwide. The band enjoyed critical success, with accolades coming from Pitchfork, Spin, Rolling Stone, Q, NME, and many more. Their newest album “Every Open Eye” seeks to do more with less, to make big sounds without racking up endless tracks within Cubase sessions.
Pure Bathing Culture has evolved naturally and at a steady pace, putting one foot in front of the other as opportunities arose. With their second album “Pray for Rain”, they’ve taken a big leap forward taking a step up to the next level and finding their footing as a true band.
