Cultural Influences in the Spanish Colonial Kitchen

March 4, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 3:00 pm

Re-enactors dressed as Spanish colonial women will describe the life of a typical woman in Saint Augustine and demonstrate how foods from three different cultures combined to create some of the best dishes available in 1740s colonial Spanish Florida.  Produce from three very different cultures – Native American, African, and Spanish – will be on display, with conversations about how each of these cultures influenced the Spanish kitchen.

Other activities at the park include a display of a Spanish Soldier’s equipment pack and talks about Fort Matanzas and its’ inlet. Come and enjoy our nature board walk trail and the inlet shoreline.
*Special Note: Due to hurricane damage our ferry is out of service.  Visitors are welcome to walk the park trails and view the fort across the waterway.
