Come join us for a free day of history, crafts, and games during Colonial Kids’ Day at Fort Matanzas! Visitors will have the opportunity to interact with a Living History Re-enactor dressed in period clothing who will demonstrate the activities common to the life of a colonial Spanish soldier from the 1740’s and discuss the role played by Fort Matanzas in protecting St. Augustine. In addition, visitors will be able to view a soldier’s encampment including displays of supplies and equipment useful in the early days of St. Augustine.
Hands on activities will be presented throughout the day to allow kids and adults to learn and experience period games and crafts and try their hand at making some crafts of their own. Kids can also perform a military drill and “sign-up” to be a Spanish colonial soldier. The opportunity to become a Junior Park Ranger will also be available.
