Brave Women: 150 Years of Courage is a concert performance by Cantorae St. Augustine followed by a reception honoring the 150th Anniversary of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Cantorae St. Augustine, best known for singing monthly vespers at the Mission Nombre de Dios, is directed by Mary Jane Ballou, a specialist in chant and polyphony. She has crafted a rich program of songs, readings, and images to highlight the nuns’ arrival and good works in St. Augustine during the 19th and early 20th centuries. The musical journey spans centuries to include Latin, French and English chants, spirituals and even Stephen Foster.
Many of the Sisters will be in attendance to meet and greet the audience. Concert seating is limited. To make reservations, please call the St. Augustine Art Association at (904) 824-2310. A goodwill donation is acceptable.
