The St. Augustine Amphitheatre, in partnership with Flying Saucer Presents, proudly announce that genre-bending rock, R&B and jazz innovators NRBQ and indie-rock supergroup The Baseball Project will perform as part of the St. Augustine Amphitheatre Backyard Block Party. The legendary NRBQ are known for their spontaneous, adventurous live performances in which they uniquely blend elements of pop, rock, blues, jazz, and Tin Pan Alley. NRBQ, which stands for “New Rhythm and Blues Quartet”, continues to innovate and output some of their best work. Their lastest studio album “Brass Tacks” was released in the Summer of 2014 and contains the fun, zest, humor and flat-out rock that has defined the band since their birth decades ago.
The Baseball Project, formed in 2007, began as a way for a couple of fans to pay musical tribute to our national pastime – and maybe score some free baseball tickets in the process. It has blossomed into a full-fledged, much-loved band in its’ own right, one which has included drummer Linda Pitmon (Steve Wynn and the Miracle 3, Zuzu’s Petals) and R.E.M.’s Peter Buck and Mike Mills, and one whose following and creativity has steadily grown with each release and tour.
Doors open at 6 p.m. Food trucks and other local vendors will be on site as part of the Block Party. Music begins at 7:30 p.m.
Visit the Amphitheatre’s website for additional information and to purchase tickets. Tickets can also be purchased at their box office and the Ponte Vedra Concert Hall box office.
