Jazz ABZ: An A to Z Collection of Jazz Portraits by Paul Rogers Thursday July 15 2010

Artist Paul Rogers teamed with legendary jazz musician Wynton Marsalis to create the book Jazz ABZ, which highlights through poetry jazz greats from A (Louis Armstrong) to Z (Dizzy Gillespie). Each portrait and poem is evocative of the particular musician’s sound, and each work of art alludes to song titles, artifacts, and other markers of the time, including artistic references to well-known artists who were particularly inspired by jazz music. This exhibit will also include selected poems by Wynton Marsalis and is a must-see for jazz fans and poets of all ages.
SACSPA Summer Camps Session 2: Historical and Musical Theater Thursday July 15 2010

Texas Hold'Em Charity Event Thursday July 15 2010

Sertoma of St. Augustine. Buy in is $5 and first prize is a $50 Visa gift
certificate, second is a gift certificate for a local restaurant. It is hels at
Gypsy Comedy Club and begins at 6:45 PM
There will be a quarterly tournament with a $35 buy in early
May. Prizes will be - first $400, second $200, third $75. I am looking for
sponsors for that tournament. Each sponsor will be allowed to put up
promotional info about their business, and sponsors of $150 or more will have a
table named for them. The highest dollar sponsor will have Table #1 named after
them,. and that is used as the final table.
Sertoma is an international organization. On that level,
they contribute to children who are deaf. Our Sertoma chooses to help local
people who find themselves in serious need, but can't get assistance anywhere
else because they don't fit the criteria. NO ADMINISTRATION FEES ARE EVER
DEDUCTED FROM DONATIONS. Every peeny that we earn is given out immediate to a
valid request. Some of our members work for county agencies and are therby able
to filter out any who try to work the system and get money they don't deserve.

Adult Salt Water Fishing Class at Washington Oaks Thursday July 15 2010

The Friends of Washington Oaks Gardens State Park will be offering Saltwater Fishing workshops at the park. A Florida Park Ranger will illustrate some of the techniques anglers use to catch fish and the importance of conservation and safety. Participants will learn to identify saltwater fish species commonly caught in this area, and will learn how to use a fishing rod & reel. Each workshop will be hands-on with participants fishing along the bank of the Intracoastal Waterway while applying their newly learned skills.
All fishing gear will be furnished for each participant to use during the workshop, including complete rod & reel, fishing tackle and bait. Upon completion of the workshop each participant will be awarded a certificate of completion and a souvenir fishing packet to take home. Also, participants will be furnished with snacks and beverages. If desired, you may bring a bag lunch.
These Saltwater Fishing Workshops are geared toward adults to teach the basics of beginning fishing skills. The Friends of Washington Oaks offer these workshops to promote the recreational and educational sport of fishing to adults.
This workshop is open to adults, ages 18 & above and the fee is $20.00 per workshop, per participant, which includes the park entrance fee. This is a three hour workshop and spaces are limited.
