Jazz ABZ: An A to Z Collection of Jazz Portraits by Paul Rogers

Artist Paul Rogers teamed with legendary jazz musician Wynton Marsalis to create the book Jazz ABZ, which highlights through poetry jazz greats from A (Louis Armstrong) to Z (Dizzy Gillespie).  Each portrait and poem is evocative of the particular musician’s sound, and each work of art alludes to song titles, artifacts, and other markers of the time, including artistic references to well-known artists who were particularly inspired by jazz music.  This exhibit will also include selected poems by Wynton Marsalis and is a must-see for jazz fans and poets of all ages.

Saturday, July 31st at 2:00 p.m.

Join a Park Ranger for a program that will introduce you to bird watching. Topics include the basic tools available to birdwatchers, and the basics of bird habitat, behavior, and identification. This program will take place at the Ribault Club on Fort George Island Cultural State Park. No reservations are necessary and the program is free.

Beginning & Intermediate Agility Training at the Humane Society

This exciting class introduces Dog Agility:  leaping over jumps, weaving through poles, burrowing through a tunnel, walking the plank, and more...the obstacles are great fun, but the best part is the strong bond you build while working together as a team.  Team training such as this builds a tremendous amount of confidence, helps release energy, and provides mental and physical stimulation.  It will be so enjoyable that you and your dog won't even realize you are learning!  

4 week classes begin Saturday, July 10th

Intermediate/Advanced at 8am; Beginning at 9am, cost:  $65

All classes are held on the St. Augustine Humane Society South Lawn

Bring:  Proof of vaccinations; 6' leash; water for dog and yourself;

bite-sized treats in a treat bag, pocket, or fanny pack, etc.
