Authors and Book Stores
St. Augustine has a rich literary history. Noted authors such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry James have stayed here and written laudatory comments about the beautiful town. Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, author of The Yearling, called St. Augustine home for many years. She entertained Ernest Hemingway at a second home of hers in Crescent Beach, just south of St. Augustine. The literary tradition continues today with delightful local history books by Karen Harvey, available through Ancient City Book Distributors. The area also has many used book stores to offer, such as the wonderful Wolf’s Head Books, proud purveyor of many rare and antique books.
